Who We Are

We are a Denver-based, student-run, not-for-profit organization dedicated to informing, inspiring, and igniting passion in BIPOC students to develop an interest in STEM through our free tutoring sessions for students and STEM Summer Camps.

Our Services

Tutoring Support helps students achieve academic success through our weekend tutoring sessions.

STEM Summer Camps teach hard skills for future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and engaging setting. They foster valuable 21st-century life skills like problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and more. As demand for coders, game developers, robotics engineers, and creative minds increases, it is prudent to encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students to deliver interest into these future growth spaces.

INFORM · INSPIRE · IGNITE

Our Vision
is to elevate BIPOC students into STEM careers.

Our Mission
is to inform, inspire, and ignite BIPOC student's curiosity through deliberate education, access, and opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in every community.

Background

During the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was challenging for many students as they transitioned from in-person schooling to virtual in-home learning. This was more pronounced for some students of color in the Denver Metro as many lacked computers, internet access and faced other issues. In addition, many of these students' parents' jobs required them to work outside their home, and in many instances, they did not have the tutoring support to help them with their homework and assignments.

Co-founders

Amber McBorrough
Amber is currently a third-year student at Boston University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

AJ McBorrough
AJ is a senior at Regis Jesuit High School, an avid lacrosse player, and hoping to major in Computer Science in college.

Inspiration

Amongst the COVID-19 pandemic, Amber and AJ became inspired to provide tutoring support to students of color in the Denver and Aurora Public School districts who needed help with their homework. Considering that Amber and AJ are both strong in math and science, they decided to start a BIPOC STEM organization to inform, inspire, and ignite a passion for STEM within the tutoring students.
